General Introduction to Qinghai Province

Named by the inland largest salt-water lake, Qinghai is located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau in western China. Bordering Jilin to the north, Tibet to the south, Xinjiang on the west, Qinghai has a total area of 720,000 square kilometres and a total population of 5 million. There are Han, Tibetan, Tu, Hui, Salar and Mongolian minority ethnic groups living in the province.

 

Qinghai Province, with its capital Xining has a lot of traditional festivities of different minority ethnic groups. Xining is also the political, cultural and economical center of Qinghai Province.
